Ann Hayes has worked as a manager in wine retailing since 1983, beginning her career with John Townend and Sons (Hull) Ltd by opening a new store in Brigg, North Lincs.

Her passion for wine next took her to Bottoms Up then part of the Dominic Group in 1991, working first in Tunbridge Wells and moving to Newark on Trent in August of that year. With her team, she relocated the business from Stodman Street to Bargate in 1994 where she built up a loyal local following of 'Imbibers'.

During her time with Bottoms Up, Ann led the New Store Development Team and opened several stores nationwide.

As part of her development and training, she visited a variety of wine-growing regions, enjoying particularly - but not exclusively! - Champagne and Rioja. (Indeed, Spanish wines feature prominently in the range at Ann et Vin.)

Changes within the company meant that Ann found Bottoms Up a less interesting and rewarding place to be and the idea of 'Ann et Vin' was born.

The search began for the ideal premises and eventually work began on the former garage site. A wonderful range was tasted (such hard work!) and selected and trading began on November 5th, 2004.
